Seven Q Guild members have been recognised for their excellence in pie-making at the 2017 British Pie Awards taking home 31 awards between them.
Q Guild butchers triumph at the British Pie Awards
Butchers, from across the UK, entered  13 out of the 21 pie categories which ranged from Regional Pies to classics such as Steak and Kidney, with Jon Thorner`s Ltd and John Lawson taking home a Class Champion accolade each.
Jon Thorner`s Ltd received the most accolades with two bronze awards, eight silver and a Class Champion win for their Steak and Ale Pie. John Lawson was also named top of the class for their Shredded Lamb Rag Pie as well as taking home a further four silver awards.
Owen Taylor & Sons received six awards, including silver for their Duck and Apricot Savoury Pie, and their Chicken, Leek and Stilton Desperate Dan Pie.
AE Chambers Ltd won an award of each medal, receiving gold for their Charcoal Ploughman`s Savoury Pie.Â
Finally,
J W Mettrick & Son Ltd, and
Meridian Meats took home two awards each, with Meridian`s Lamb and Mint being recognised with silver.
The British Pie Awards are held in Melton Mowbray annually and challenge hundreds of butchers and pie-makers around the country to produce the best filling encased completely in pastry and judged by a panel of food journalists and industry professionals.
