Investing in Staff for Owen Taylor and Son Ltd

Employees from Leading Catering Butchers, Owen Taylor & Sons have received their certificates for qualifications they worked for during 2016. The group committed to doing the various qualification whilst they worked full time at the Butchers in various departments.

`The problem historically with the meat industry is that it was seen as a job for non-academics. Running apprenticeships and other work based qualifications is one way to help rectify this as many employees are hands on people and respond really well when they add theory whilst they work. Individual performances have improved but also wider benefits have been seen as these employees play key roles in the companies drive for continuous improvement.`, Carl Evans, Operations Manager at Owen Taylors.

Congratulations to (photo left to right), Alex Bacon, John Rendell, Jonathan Frost, Grant Wilson, James Barnes, Chris Salmon, Kane Pearson and Dominic Knowles. Also pictured is Philip Wadsworth their trainer. The staff completed Level 2 in either Food Industry Skills or Meat & Poultry Skills except for John Rendell who finished the level 3 in Meat & Poultry skills.

`I have enjoyed working with this group of learners at Owen Taylor. I have seen each person improve their skills and job knowledge as a result of completing their Apprenticeship in either Food Industry Skills or Meat & Poultry Industry Skills. Some of this group will join the next group and progress to the next level apprenticeship. It has been refreshing to experience fantastic support for the Apprenticeship programme from each individual and the company.` Philip Wadsworth, Intrinsic Training.

February will see more employees signing up to undertake various qualifications during 2017.
