Biography

Danny Lidgate is the fifth generation of his family to run this 150 year old business. Danny and his Father David Lidgate personally select organic and grass-fed beef, lamb and pork from selected free range and organic farms and estates. These include Judith Freane and Highgrove – home farm of H.R.H The Prince of Wales. Lidgates also stock organic chickens from small farms in the West Country and East Anglia. Specialities include a wide range of home-made sausages, national and international award winning pies made to order in ceramic dishes, an extensive selection of cheeses carefully matured in perfect condition and organic and free range poultry and game.

Chadwick’s Butchers was founded in 1999 by Gary Chadwick & Jennifer Line and have become well respected and known for the quality of the products they sell.

They have recently expanded the business moving to a larger store with a better location.
They have been a Q Guild member since 2009 and have already won 8 awards for the products they sell.

The Chadwick’s staff pride themselves on the quality of the goods they produce and sell. All pies and sausages are made in-store with fresh pork and fresh herbs. Chadwick’s Butchers are the original home of the ‘Hobbit pie’. Chadwick’s made 500 pies for the ‘Lord Of The Rings’ premier party and the BBC coverage of the premier had the pies as a backdrop and said ‘All the stars are here eating Hobbit Pies’ since then Chadwick’s have been known as the home of the Hobbit Pie!

On another occasion Stanley Chadwick was the butcher in the latest Sweeney Todd film where he advised Tim Howard on the technical details of the set!
